Job Summary: the intern’s position will be based on raising and managing the funds of our organization. They will also contribute to the organization’s ability to advance systems change and action on the SDGs. The intern will provide support and capacity-building to both the ReImagine17 team as well as its ongoing project activities in the management of resources, including finances and allocation of assets. The intern will contribute to sustaining ongoing partnerships and tracking the impact of initiatives. They will be responsible for capitalizing on our relationships with multiple stakeholders, potential investors, and foundations. The intern will conduct research, write proposals, apply for grants, and work with the rest of our team to carry out a mid-term financial strategy. In addition to raising funds, this position will be responsible for directly managing them and their process of distributing them upon request from the rest of the team.
The intern will also have an opportunity to allocate a portion of their hours each week to support the work in one of ReImagine17’s other sub-teams, referred to as ‘pods’: Advocacy, Communications, Strategic Partnerships, ReMobilization and/or ReImagination (Research and Innovation).
The intern will also have an opportunity to allocate a number of their hours each week to support one of five
secondary project teams ("Pods"):
Reimagination (Research and Innovation)
Support administrative tasks of the organization such as recording meeting minutes, organizing the file directory, and developing team workflows.
Research and explore funding and engagement opportunities.
Lead the formation of new partnership projects with external stakeholders by answering needs that have been raised, and researching support areas that institutions are requesting on the topic of SDG programming and implementation.
Keep an internal record of project progress in a project tracking system and write an impact report for each completed partnership project through the internship term.
Provide support to ongoing RE17 activities, campaigns, and projects that are being undertaken by the different pods of the organization
Research potential investors and sources of funding, and the best matches.
Collaborate with our Strategic Partnerships pod to establish RE17’s network of partners.
Apply for sources of seed funding and other grants.
Work closely with our administrative staff to design a financial strategy.
Experience in project management.
A strong ability to take initiative and to work in teams.
A proven and strong ability to conduct research on a case-by-case basis as needed to stay up to date on correct financial and legal procedures.
Experience in creating agendas, facilitating meetings and setting tasks.
Can work diligently with little supervision.
Experience in accounting and administration is an asset.
Working knowledge of financial platforms such as Quickbooks is an asset.
A passion for sustainability, NPOs, systems thinking and/or climate justice.
An understanding of the SDGs and the landscape we work in is an asset.
Training and Skills Development Opportunities:
As an employee of ReImagine17, 80% of an intern’s time will be focused on their main position and another 20% will be dedicated to their professional and personal interests as relevant to the work of RE17. At the beginning of the contract period, interns will have a kick-off meeting with their supervisor to discuss intentions, expectations, and the scope of their internship work plan. During their time with RE17, interns will develop strong interpersonal communication skills, a “moonshot thinking” approach, and a strong sense of self-determination.
